Gareth started studying hairdressing in Leeds, at the age of 18. His tutors soon realised he had a natural gift and within 6 weeks of being on the course, he was moved up to an advanced course. He was then chosen to represent his college during a visit from prospective investors and again for a salon inspection by City & Guilds, the UK’s leading awarding body. He also acted as a mentor to fellow students, helping them in various aspects of their studies from written coursework to cross checking cuts.

After completing both Level 1 & Level 2 NVQ qualifications, he was invited back to study Level 3, the highest vocational qualification available in the UK for hairdressing. This was the first time his college had opened their salon to Level 3 applicants. By the time Gareth left the college, his qualifications equalled those of his tutors. His written coursework was also kept on site to be used as a guide to new students.

Gareth now operates as an independent stylist in the Leeds area and also spends some of his time mentoring and tutoring young students new to hairdressing.
